Photography Tip #4: Say "CHEESE"

Okay mamas, so we are all guilty of this one. There is no doubt that when we catch our kiddos looking straight into the cameras, pearly whites on display and all, it can feel like we just won a Golden Globe. Other times... in my experience I will say, "Elle, smile" and she ends up looking like she's in pain or growling {exhibit below}.

And here is the thing, if we focus all our efforts into “everyone must be looking right at the camera, and smiling a perfect smile” all the time, guess what? We will end up with maybe… maybe 1-2 good captures, once in a blue moon. When we get those, celebrate and do a happy dance!

Look, no one is to blame for this “say cheese” phenomenon. We have been programmed to equivocate a “good” picture with everyone looking at the camera, and smiling. In reality, the best photos are those truly captured in the moment.

They feel more authentic, and can bring you instantly back to that special memory.

So, snap away my friend. Whether your sweet pea is roaming the lands, pensively playing with a toy, or snacking away in their highchair. I promise, you will start to treasure these photos so much more than all those other cheesy one.
