Planes, trains, and automobiles, we made it to Dusseldorf, Germany and set off for our 12 days of adventure. We did A LOT and saw A LOT. We ended up doing two side trips outside of Germany to Belgium, and Amsterdam. Europe rocks for that reason. You can drive a few hours and end up in a different country. HOORAY! At home, I drive an hour, and end up in the lovely state of Rhode Island (womp womp). Don’t get me wrong, I love RI, I went to Providence College (Go Friars!)

I now invite you to grab some vino, kick up your feet, and take a virtual trip with me to my favorite places from our trip {you can find them in four separate posts... I didn't want to overwhelm ya}. Oh and if you are ever on that side of the world, I hope you have some time for explore these gems in person. Enjoy!

Monschau, Germany. This may be my favorite place of all places that we visited. I felt like I was in the little village where Belle lives in Beauty and the Beast. I know I know that was France. But still, I really wanted to put on my blue peasant, yet stylish dress, and twirl around town visiting the florist, the baker, and of course the librarian, while everyone danced and sang all around me.

This idyllic town has remained nearly unchanged for 300 years! The cobblestone streets, half-timbered houses, and bright pink and red geraniums made me fall instantly in love.

There were adorable little shops and cafes on every corner, and the town square was the perfect place for lunch, and a chance to sip some Riesling.

We hiked up {my Kate Spade sandals did the job just fine} to a lookout point, and it was well worth it for the beautiful view from the top.

If you're into more than just Riesling, the Monschau Castle, spectacular churches, canal bridges, and several museums are all in the historic center. There was not a shortage of things to do and places to explore.

I hope that one day we will be back to this magical place {hopefully the hubs can accompany is next time}. I did hear that Monschau is the place to be over the holidays for their Christmas festival. I can only imagine how breathtaking it is with twinkly lights and a light coat of snow. Plus, I'm a sucker for all things Christmas.
