We hopped in our rented van and headed to Belgium for a few days. I have always wanted to visit Brussels, and it did not disappoint. It was beautiful and full of rich history. The central square of Brussels, also known as The Grand Place was breathtaking, and lively. There was even the most adorable children’s boutique right in the heart of the square (of course I can’t remember the name of it for the life of me).

And I can’t say enough about all the food and the beer that I consumed in Brussels! From the most delicious waffles and chocolate, to the Kriek Lambic (aka cherry beer)... it was seriously the best beer I have ever had... although I am more of a wine and bubbly kind of girl, so what do I know. Don’t leave Brussels without a visit to Manneken Pis... not because this tiny statue of a peeing boy is all that great, but because the waffle place across from it, took their waffle making seriously. They were heavenly. I may or may not have had two.

We then got back in the car and headed to Bruges. This fairy tale medieval town, with its picturesque canals, market squares, and old whitewashed almshouses was magnificent to say the least. Also, there were so many children’s boutiques, I almost died.

We wandered around the black and white stone streets, looking up at the medieval buildings, and neighing at the horses. Okay, maybe just one.... or two of us neighed at the horses. But seriously, I've never seen the little one so fascinated by those powerful beauties. She had no fear. I on the other hand, think horses are spectacular animals, but they scare the bajesus out of me.

We ended our day with a three course dinner outside in a little town square surrounded by twinkly lights, and chirping birds. I forgot to mention this one thing. Can someone give me a science lesson about why it does not get dark in Europe until literally midnight? Either way, I loved it.
