I couldn’t just choose one place along the Rhine worthy of a visit, because all of these places were fab fab fab! We started our day of in Cologne. Holy Jesus that Cologne cathedral is really something {see what I did there?} The view from outside is spectacular, the view inside is serene, but the view from up top is the icing on the cake. Just be prepared to climb up the 533 stone steps of the narrow spiral staircase. You may look like a hot sweaty mess once you get up top, but think of all the Gouda you can eat after your little workout… better yet, bring some Gouda up with you. Why didn’t I think of that?

After our decent from 330 feet above ground, we set off to do some wine tasting at the Peter Hohn Winery. Best part? Their Gold Star Award Riesling was €12… per bottle… that’s how much a glass of Kimmy Crawford costs me here! Naturally, we bought a case to bring back home.

With a nice little buzz (no worries, our driver was not a wine drinker), we drove up and down the windiest road known to man (no joke, my mom started to have a panic attack… shoulda had more wine), but when we got to Burg Eltz, I was back to my Beauty and the Beast fantasy. I’ve never been to a real castle, let alone one that has been around for 850 years. You gotta love the Europeans too, because once you get inside the courtyard, you can sit and have some wine. More Riesling for me please.

This lovely day did eventually come to an end. We continued along the Rhine for a little longer, and concluded our adventure by having dinner in Boppard on the Rhine… and saw a magnificent sunset. Once you get to know me, you will realize how much I love sunsets. I literally will chase a good sunset.
